Infinite Family (https://www.infinitefamily.org/) is an online mentoring program that matches adults and families in the United States with the at-risk and impoverished children in South Africa. The goal is to connect students with mentors to give them the support that they need to overcome the obstacles of living in an environment where there are constant cycles of violence and a lack of opportunity.

USA / South Africa

Mentors must be 21 years of age or older, as well as having access to high speed internet and a webcam. There is no extra software required. Mentors must go through a training process, which requires between 5 and 6 hours of training in addition to a live 90-minute webinar. All sessions are done in English. Mentors also have access to support staff whenever they need it during these sessions.

When you volunteer with Infinite Family, you are helping to improve the lives of these at-risk children who often lack the support that they need to overcome the circumstances in their environment. You can help children create opportunities through making smart decisions and self-reliance.

Volunteers are required to mentor for at least 30 minutes a week and must volunteer as a mentor for a minimum of 1 year.

In 2003, Amy Stokes and her husband were inspired to help the children in South Africa after they went to this country to adopt their son. She wanted to offer these children hope that they can have a brighter future even though they are surrounded by poverty and violence. By offering mentoring services to the at-risk youth in this country, these children can get the support that they need to build a better life.
